What is NHPS?

The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) is a registered entity under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland. It is tasked with administering public health protection schemes in the state, including Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), and other relevant health protection programs.

Key Functions:

• Ongoing Schemes: NHPS currently implements flagship health insurance schemes- AB PM-JAY and CMHIS.
• Converged Beneficiary Groups: The Society also manages health insurance for other groups that have converged with PM-JAY, such as:
• Workers registered under the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) welfare scheme.
• Beneficiaries under PM CARES for Children.
• Personnel from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).
• Community health workers, including ASHA, AWW (Anganwadi Workers), and AHWs (Auxiliary Health Workers) in Nagaland.

Governance Structure:

• Governing Body: Chaired by the Honorable Chief Minister of Nagaland.
• Executive Committee: Led by the Administrative Head of the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
• Chief Executive Officer (CEO): Responsible for the operational execution of NHPS’s mandates.

District Implementation Units (DIUs):

To ensure localized implementation, NHPS has established District Implementation Units (DIUs) in every district. These units are headed by the respective Deputy Commissioner, ensuring the schemes reach beneficiaries effectively.
