The Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) is initiated by the State Government with the aim to provide free and Cashless treatment of various ailments to all citizens of the State to prevent impoverishment due to hospitalization expenses and to prevent inaccessibility to medical care on account of unaffordability..

The scheme will cover following beneficiary categories:

• State government employees and pensioners including ex-legislatures and their dependents are categorized as CMHIS (EP) and
• All the indigenous and permanent residents of the State who are not beneficiary under AB PM-JAY or any public funded insurance scheme of the government and are not State government employees and pensioners or ex-legislatures are categorized as CMHIS (GEN)

Benefits and Sum Insured

1. AB PM-JAY & CMHIS (GEN): The beneficiary families shall entitled to free health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5.00 lakhs per family per year on a floater basis.
2. CMHIS (EP): In addition to the base benefit cover of Rs. 5.00 lakhs, government employees and pensioners including ex-legislatures and their dependents shall have additional benefits as notified by the Government.
3. OPD services and Standalone Investigation are not covered but hospitalized treatment and Daycare Procedures shall be covered.
4. The Health Benefit Package for CMHIS (GEN) will be same with AB PM-JAY while for CMHIS (EP) it will be in line with CGHS
